Knife production

  • Cutting of the raw blade by means of a laser cutter (picture at Lidag, Flurlingen)
  • The still untreated, unhardened and not stainless blade. Here on the example of another knife. (All following photos at the manufacturer Muela, Spain).
  • Hardening of the steel: Here, the iron is heated to a precisely adjustable temperature and then cooled down in a controlled time. This makes the steel harder, stainless and more elastic.
  • Example of blades which are heat treated. Picture not with the OutdoorKnife.
  • So that the olive wood on the handle no longer shrinks due to drying, the preformed handle pieces are further dried in this oven.
  • The finished dried handles. Ready to be mounted on the blade.
  • Gluing the olive wood shell to the steel and hammering in the rivets.
  • Clamping of the glued handle shells.
  • Face grinder of the handle shell and blade with the grinding belt.
  • OutdoorKnife with protruding rivets and ground rivets.
  • The different workstations for the different operations.
  • Further fine work including pulling off the blade.
  • The finished knife with the sun dance symbol. The unique patterning of the handles makes each knife unique.
  • Punching tools for the leather sheath.
  • The naturally tanned leather sheaths.
  • The finished OutdoorKnife with the leather sheath.
