When we are out and about, the topic of water occupies us several times a day. Where will I find water, is it drinkable, can I treat it? When we prepare for a trip for a day, a week or longer, we think about how much water I need to take with me, can I find water locally, and how can I transport it.
We have 40 years of experience with this. In our more than 20 course areas we have established our own adapted water supply directly on site and with simple means.

The core topics of these 4 days will be:
Finding:

  • Finding water at different geological substrates
  • different techniques to find or extract water
  • Finding water in challenging places

Judging:

  • Can you determine water quality outdoors?
  • What are the criteria for judging water as drinking water?

Treat:

  • Treatment methods using natural and high-tech means.

Other topics are: how to conserve, store and transport water.

The goal is:

that each participant gains a more comprehensive understanding of water in outdoor life
develop the ability to find and efficiently use water in different areas in Switzerland
have a tool for assessing the drinkability of water
will be able to treat water in a logical way
The course takes place outside. First we set up for a good learning atmosphere. Then follow theories and above all exercises to put into practice what we have learned.
Christof Hagen: Has been teaching in the wilderness for 40 years (summer and winter) and accordingly has practical experience with a wide variety of medical situations. As a flight instructor he teaches aviation medicine (physiology and psychology), teaching and learning, crew resource management.
